Meeting point: Speersort 10/in front of the Bischofsburg Museum

Alster, Bille, Elbe: Hamburg originated on these three rivers, and the harbour developed here. Starting from the first settlement, the Hammaburg, our bicycle tour follows the development of the harbour through the city centre and the eastern harbour areas to the dawn of the industrial age. Along the way, we discover unused harbour basins, abandoned quays, old warehouses from the imperial era and idyllic promontories amid the Elbe. We explore how technological progress and political changes have altered the face of the harbour and why old harbour facilities can no longer be used today.
