Meeting point: Berne subway station (exit Berner Heerweg)

The development of the district began in the 1920s with the construction of the cooperative garden city. Since then, the settlement houses and their gardens, as well as other green spaces, have shaped the district and radiate a great sense of tranquility. On our way through the garden city, we see a community center, a school by Fritz Schumacher, the Berner Au, and the "Schloss." We also hear about the special attitude of the first settlers towards the church and moving stories of resistance during National Socialism. Tales of muddy boots, chicken coops, grocery stores, and the Café Palm round off the tour.
