On the tour through selected courtyards between Weidenallee and Vereinsstraße, you will hear fascinating stories from the beginnings of the development of this old workers' housing estate, about the lives and work of the people in the residential terraces and rental factories in the densely built area. Here stand the oldest rental apartments in Eimsbüttel. Most of the courtyards were built at a time when commercial and residential buildings were constructed without any building regulations for distance rules in Hamburg. In addition to the beginnings of urban development, we will also focus intensively on the design and consequences of the two major renovation waves between 1980 and 2000, during which this area, belonging to the historical Schanzenviertel in Eimsbüttel, increasingly gentrified.
