The rural area was discovered as a destination about 200 years ago, but with the rapid growth of the city since industrialization, Eimsbüttel was densely built up with apartment buildings at a breathtaking pace.Our tour leads us through the Gründerzeit and Reconstruction periods, to the Apostelkirche (Apostle Church) and a Hamburg castle. We will also discuss Nivea and Tesa, and ask ourselves what makes the district so attractive and where the Eimsbüttel marketplace has gone.
