In the summer of 2016, Sebastian Knauer, Martin Tingvall, Joja Wendt and Axel Zwingenberger played together in Hamburg for the first time—and since then they have performed there almost every year at a joint concert in the Hamburg State Opera or the Elbphilharmonie. For the anniversary, the four pianists come together again and present their program full of surprises and musical colors for the first time on a large Germany-wide tour. The different musical backgrounds of the four pianists come together in an original program. Each pianist gets their own space, and there are also increasingly unusual piano pairings: The classical virtuoso plays with the Boogie-Woogie master, the jazz pianist leads with colorful harmonies into the blues and together they create an improvisation. Sometimes the piano is played four-handed—and with two grand pianos on stage thus eight-handed; sometimes the pianists take turns during the piece and give the piano bench room for the next one: a unique concert experience.LINEUPSebastian Knauer pianoMartin Tingvall pianoJoja Wendt pianoAxel Zwingenberger piano

You're in the mood for dance, and when you get the chance: You are a dancing queen! Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) and ABBA (1972)Connecting these two absolute giants of European music history seems daring - Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) and ABBA (1972)!However, upon listening a second time, countless similarities can be found. The originality and catchiness of their melodies, the rhythmic liveliness, as well as their unrestricted popularity. Under the title Dancing Queen, the Lautten Compagney builds a bridge from the present to an era when not the queens, but rather the kings were found on the dance floor. ABBA's music is arranged, as in other cross-epoch projects by the Berlin ensemble, and played on Baroque instruments, and Rameau's music is not just presented in contrast. The music is sometimes merged to such an extent that it is hardly recognizable what comes from the pen of the high Baroque Frenchman and what comes from the workshop of the Swedish pop quartet. As a true dancing queen on her instrument, the inquisitive saxophonist Asya Fateyeva dances back and forth between worlds. With high virtuosity, she coaxes her instrument into rapid runs as well as the finest lyrical-singing arias. She has an endless palette of different sounds and improvises with ease over a rocky riff, whether it's from Rameau or ABBA. An ideal partner for the musicians of the experimental and playful Lautten Compagney, with whom she released the highly acclaimed CD Time Travel in 2021, featuring pieces by Purcell and The Beatles.Lautten Compagney Berlin (12 musicians)Asya Fateyeva, saxophoneArrangements: Bo WigetDirection: Wolfgang Katschner

»You’re in the mood for dance, and when you get the chance: You are a dancing queen!« – Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764) and ABBA (1972)Connecting these two absolute giants of European music history seems audacious. Already on the second listen, there are countless similarities. The originality and catchiness of their melodies, the rhythmic buoyancy, as well as their unbridled popularity. Under the title »Dancing Queen«, lautten compagney builds a bridge from the present to a time when the dance floor was not so much dominated by queens, but by kings.ABBA's music will, as in other epoch-spanning projects by the Berlin ensemble, be arranged and played on Baroque-era instruments and not only juxtaposed with Rameau's music. The music is sometimes fused to such an extent that it's hardly possible to tell which comes from the pen of the highly Baroque Frenchman and which from the workshop of the Swedish pop quartet. As a true Dancing Queen on her instrument, the adventurous saxophonist Asya Fateyeva dances between the worlds. With high virtuosity, she elicits from her instrument blistering fast runs as well as the finest lyrically singing arias. She possesses an endless palette of diverse timbres and improvises with ease even over a rock riff, whether from Rameau or ABBA. An ideal partner for the musicians of the experimental and musically adventurous lautten compagney, with whom in 2021 she released the much-noted CD »Time Travel« featuring works by Purcell and The Beatles.CASTlautten compagney BERLIN EnsembleAsya Fateyeva SaxophoneWolfgang Katschner ConductorPROGRAM»Dancing Queen«

“My Hamburg forever, my Elbphilharmonie for a special day” says Inga Rumpf as she looks forward to her 80th birthday. The musician and composer, who for more than six decades has captivated audiences with a distinctive voice, inexhaustible creativity and pure energy, presents on this occasion a cross-section of her extraordinary musical career. Rock, Soul, Rhythm ’n’ Blues, Gospel and Jazz: Inga Rumpf has given these genres a powerful voice. For this, she earns respect and admiration from musical “Friends” (the name of her longtime band) and from the many admirers across borders. With the “City Preachers” and the rock bands “Frumpy” and “Atlantis,” she achieved international success as early as five decades ago; she toured with the superstars B.B. King, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lionel Richie, and recorded in the studio with Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood. Tina Turner launched a world career with Inga’s song “I Wrote A Letter.” Now another highlight at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg—with a very special note: The concert will be available as a live recording on CD, vinyl and digital formats.LINEUPInga Rumpf Vocals
