In the summer of 2016, Sebastian Knauer, Martin Tingvall, Joja Wendt and Axel Zwingenberger played together in Hamburg for the first time—and since then they have performed there almost every year at a joint concert in the Hamburg State Opera or the Elbphilharmonie. For the anniversary, the four pianists come together again and present their program full of surprises and musical colors for the first time on a large Germany-wide tour. The different musical backgrounds of the four pianists come together in an original program. Each pianist gets their own space, and there are also increasingly unusual piano pairings: The classical virtuoso plays with the Boogie-Woogie master, the jazz pianist leads with colorful harmonies into the blues and together they create an improvisation. Sometimes the piano is played four-handed—and with two grand pianos on stage thus eight-handed; sometimes the pianists take turns during the piece and give the piano bench room for the next one: a unique concert experience.LINEUPSebastian Knauer pianoMartin Tingvall pianoJoja Wendt pianoAxel Zwingenberger piano

Lautten Compagney Berlin (12 musisi)Asya Fateyeva, SaksofonAransemen: Bo WigetDireksi: Wolfgang Katschner

»You’re in the mood for dance, and when you get the chance: You are a dancing queen!« – Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764) and ABBA (1972)Connecting these two absolute giants of European music history seems audacious. Already on the second listen, there are countless similarities. The originality and catchiness of their melodies, the rhythmic buoyancy, as well as their unbridled popularity. Under the title »Dancing Queen«, lautten compagney builds a bridge from the present to a time when the dance floor was not so much dominated by queens, but by kings.ABBA's music will, as in other epoch-spanning projects by the Berlin ensemble, be arranged and played on Baroque-era instruments and not only juxtaposed with Rameau's music. The music is sometimes fused to such an extent that it's hardly possible to tell which comes from the pen of the highly Baroque Frenchman and which from the workshop of the Swedish pop quartet. As a true Dancing Queen on her instrument, the adventurous saxophonist Asya Fateyeva dances between the worlds. With high virtuosity, she elicits from her instrument blistering fast runs as well as the finest lyrically singing arias. She possesses an endless palette of diverse timbres and improvises with ease even over a rock riff, whether from Rameau or ABBA. An ideal partner for the musicians of the experimental and musically adventurous lautten compagney, with whom in 2021 she released the much-noted CD »Time Travel« featuring works by Purcell and The Beatles.CASTlautten compagney BERLIN EnsembleAsya Fateyeva SaxophoneWolfgang Katschner ConductorPROGRAM»Dancing Queen«
