Administrative building (cemetery side)

Carsten Helberg, Managing Director of Hamburger Friedhöfe AöR, will welcome guests. The cemetery for burials according to Muslim rites, “ASSALAM” (“Peace”), will be opened by Dr. Stefanie von Berg, State Councillor at the Hamburg Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture, and Imam Mounib Doukali of SCHURA Hamburg. Landscape architects Torsten Herbst (HF) and Aaron Querner (EGL office) will explain the concept behind the site. The press, Muslim funeral homes and individuals who have contributed to the development of the site and the burial process are invited. Musical accompaniment: oud and ney flute by “Tango Meets Orient”. In Hamburg, more than 400 deceased people are buried according to Muslim traditions every year. The extension area in Öjendorf provides 4,850 coffin graves, thereby securing burials according to Muslim rites for the coming years.
