For the creation of pop-up cards or fold-cut cards, a variation of origami (ori = folding, kami = paper) is used, which allows for cutting the paper. With kirigami (kiri = cutting), simple to complex three-dimensional fold-cut cards can be made through vertical cutting and horizontal folding. They reveal spatial depth and create straightforward architectures or pop-up mechanisms. In this course, we will work our way from simple pop-ups to more complicated models. Photos, glossy images, postcards, or other interesting motifs brought along can be incorporated into our own designs.
