Sechzig Jahre nach dem Exil in Amerika kehrt er in seine alte Heimat Ostfriesland zurück. Nicht, weil er Deutschland noch einmal sehen will, sondern weil er fast blind ist und auf Hilfe angewiesen ist. In Leer kommt er am vermeintlichen Ende seines Lebens an — und findet dort etwas, womit niemand mehr gerechnet hat: einen Neubeginn an der Seite von Gerda Dänekas, einst seine Pflegerin, nun seine Freundin und Mitbewohnerin. Zusammen sind sie die älteste WG Deutschlands. Und Albrecht beginnt zu erzählen: von seinem Leben, von „Mama“ und „Papa“, von dem, was bleibt, wenn alles verloren ging. Der Zuschauer erlebt, wie Schüler neben dem alten Mann im Rollstuhl hinknien und in Tränen ausbrechen, weil die Wucht seiner Geschichte kaum auszuhalten ist. Albrecht trägt das Grauen in seinem Kopf und im Herzen ein kindliches Vertrauen gegenüber den Menschen, die ihm begegnen. Zugewandt, liebevoll, immer neugierig und offen. Selbst ein ehemaliger Wehrmachtssoldat, der ihm begegnet, kann daran nichts ändern. Albrecht weint, er lacht, er fährt mit dem Leeraner Bürgermeister Karussell und erinnert sich an jedes Detail einer Vergangenheit, die nicht vergehen darf. Bis zuletzt bleibt seine größte Angst das Vergessen. Albrecht Weinberg starb am 12. Mai 2026 im Alter von 101 Jahren. Er hinterlässt Hunderte Freunde und Weggefährten sowie seine beste Freundin Gerda, die nun nicht mehr mit Albrecht, aber mit seinem Film durch Deutschland reist – gegen das Vergessen.

In Lebanon, there is no state archive; its recent history is not taught in schools. "In a place like Lebanon, where the government repeatedly lets us down, it is journalists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers who document history," says director Lana Daher, who with her film "Do You Love Me" has created an impressive historical collage of Lebanon between war and pop music, destruction and the will to live. From over 20,000 audio and visual sources, a film has been created which, from private videos, documentaries, and feature films, has created a kind of collective memory of Lebanon from the 1970s to the present day. "Do You Love Me" does not proceed chronologically, but rather juxtaposes images associatively and shows a country that has developed astonishing resilience. This makes the film a perfect prelude to the Lebanon Festival at the Elbphilharmonie, which, from October 29 to November 1, showcases the country's diverse musical culture. Elbphilharmonie PLUS is the accompanying program of the Elbphilharmonie and opens up different perspectives on the music in the building – as a supplement to attending a concert or as a complete experience in itself. Interdisciplinary encounters and exhibitions are just as much a part of the Elbphilharmonie PLUS program as are talk concerts or film screenings in museums, libraries, cinemas, and community cultural centers.
