Based on Gün Tank's novel Die Optimistinnen Roman unserer Mütter, the evening combines literature, music, and political education, and commemorates the women of the first generation of labor migrants whose experiences have lastingly shaped German society. Together with Orhan Çal???r, the artists will subsequently speak, under the moderation of Timm Taube, about the strikes of guest workers from 1973, the role of women in labor struggles, and their significance for remembrance, participation, and social cohesion.The event is part of the series Von Gastarbeit zu Gegenwart: 65 Jahre deutsch-türkische Realität by Interkulturellen Denkfabrik e.V., funded by the Landeszentrale für Politische Bildung Hamburg in cooperation with Zinnschmelze. Gün Tank is an author, moderator, speaker, and curator. She was co-curator of the exhibition 22:14 ? und es kamen Frauen (2011) and the event series CrossKultur. She is also co-curator of the event series RIOT NOW! Die Optimistinnen - Roman unserer Mütter was published in September 2022 by S. Fischer Verlage. In 2024, DIE OPTIMISTINNEN premiered at the Gorki Theater (Berlin). Another adaptation was performed at the Stadttheater Bielefeld. She was a fellow at the Kulturakademie Tarabya in ?stanbul from October 2024 to January 2025. Eren Ak?ahin is a multi-instrumentalist and composer. His musical journey began with a strong connection to the Baglama, a central means of expression in his art. He masters a wide range of plucked instruments, including classical guitar, Baglama, Oud, and some hybrid instruments. As a composer, he connects traditional Anatolian elements with contemporary and other influences to create narrative melodies and harmonic arrangements. His work is characterized by sensitivity, authenticity, and innovation on his instruments.
